5 frequent adverse effects of following a keto diet when it comes to weight reduction

 

 

One of the most popular diet trends these days is the ketogenic diet, commonly known as the keto diet. The low-carb, high-fat diet has proven to be highly effective and popular among the people, whether you're trying to lose weight or just keep fit.  

It's true, and science backs it up. A ketogenic diet can help you lose weight. However, it is also a fact that this diet is always accompanied by strange side effects that you may be unaware of. So, before you decide to try this diet, here are 5 keto diet side effects you should be aware of: 

 
 

It's possible that you'll get the keto flu.  

Some people become ill as soon as they begin this diet. GI distress, headaches, and weakness are all possible side effects. All of these are signs of the "Keto flu." The flu is produced when your body begins to produce energy from fat rather than carbohydrates. According to studies, roughly 25% of persons who try the keto diet have severe side effects. However, you should not be concerned because the keto flu will pass after a week as your body adjusts to the changes. 

 
 

It's possible that you'll gain weight again.  

A keto diet may help you lose weight quickly at first, but it is common for this weight to return. Carbohydrates contain more water than protein and fat, thus this happens. As a result, when you convert to the low-carb keto diet, you immediately lose all of your water weight. The weight you lose at first is primarily water weight, which returns within a few days.  

You might be constipated.  

When you're on a keto diet, you could find yourself needing to go to the bathroom more frequently than usual. You may experience constipation as a result of a lack of fibre intake, which occurs as a result of eating fewer carbs. Inconsistent bowel movements are a common adverse effect of a low-carb diet. To ensure easy bowel movement, eat some fiber from keto-friendly foods like avocado and nuts. 

 
 

You can be suffering from keto breath.  

When you eat a keto diet, your body enters ketosis and begins creating ketones, which are waste products. Acetone, which is commonly found in nail polish remover, is also produced by your body. Because acetone molecules are so small, they pass through the lungs and are exhaled while breathing. This causes "keto breath." A metallic taste may linger in your tongue for a few weeks, but it will fade. 

 
 

You may be always thirsty.  

While on the keto diet, you may experience actual thirst. This is because you excrete all of the excess water from your body, making you thirsty all of the time. So, make an effort to drink extra water to avoid becoming dehydrated.
