Tooth Coloured Fillings
27 Jan' 21

Having a filled tooth is very common for people these days. Most health seekers have fillings because of reasons like tooth decay, cavities, to fill a hole caused by injury and the like.

The good news is that fillings today are quite natural looking and gone are the days where all you were stuck with was a shiny silver one like a Hollywood baddie. Health seekers are more conscious about their looks and prefer that their fillings not show when they talk or smile.

Tooth coloured fillings or white fillings are also called composite fillings and as the name suggests, these fillings are the same colour as your natural teeth. The cost of a white filling depends on the size and type of filling used and your dentist will give you an approximate idea of the cost before the treatment.A composite filling is used to treat initial tooth decay, but if the decay is extensive and causes pain, then a root canal treatment is advised.

The most commonly used dental fillings are tooth colour materials that are made of synthetic resin, glass particles and a setting ingredient. The kind of filling also depends on where the tooth is in your mouth.

The procedure begins with the cleansing of all decay from your tooth and the application of bonding material to the inside of the hole. The filling is then put into the hole in layers and each is hardened with the help of a distinct light over the tooth. Once hard, the dentist shapes the filling so it feels natural. The white filling will last in its spot depending on where it is in your mouth and how heavily you bite down there. As they are direct fillings, they will be completed in a single sitting, in most cases.
